Pushkar Fair Itinerary Tour

Destinations Covered: Delhi - Jodhpur - Ranakpur - Udaipur - Chittaurgarh - Pushkar -Jaipur - Agra - Delhi

Duration: 12 nights / 13 days

Please note: This tour is only available during the time of the Pushkar Fair, usually held in November.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL DELHI
Our envoy will receive you once you arrive at the airport and escort you to your hotel to check in.

Over the years, Delhi has grown from a walled city to a world city. The capital of the nation, the city is also the media capital, fashion hotspot, corporate hub and political seat of India. Stay overnight at the hotel.

DAY 2: DELHI - JODHPUR
Take a city tour of Delhi once you have breakfast.

Visit tourist attractions like the Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, Rajghat, Humayun's Tomb, Qutab Minar, India Gate and more. Also worth exploring is the city's cuisine and shopping haunts. Transfer to the railway station to board an overnight train for Jodhpur.

DAY 3: JODHPUR
Arrival in the morning, followed by transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, take a city tour of Jodhpur.

Located at the center of the city, the Mehrangarh Fort has three gates, each built to commemorate a particular victory, as well as to reinforce the fort.

It has a collection of well-preserved musical instruments, palanquins, furniture and cannons.

Near the fort complex is the Jaswant Thada - a white marble monument, built in 1899, to honor Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Also visit the Clock Tower at the city center. Spend the night at the hotel.

DAY 4: JODHPUR - RANAKPUR - UDAIPUR
After breakfast, take an excursion to the Bishnoi villages to witness the opium ceremony among the villagers. Observe wildlife on the way, including rare black bucks. Leave for Udaipur thereafter, visiting the Jain temples at Ranakpur on the way.This group of temples, made of elaborately sculpted white marble, is a feast for the eyes.

So well preserved and sparkling is the marble that it is hard to believe that the structures were built in 1460. Truly, an architectural feat. Arrive at Udaipur in the evening and check in at a hotel.

DAY 5: UDAIPUR
After breakfast, visit the romantic city of Udaipur.

Explore the City Palace which is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan; Jagdish temple, a fine Indo Aryan temple built in 1651; Sahelion ki Bari or Garden of the Maids,

which is a small garden with kiosks, fountains, marble elephants and the spectacular lotus pool. In the evening, enjoy a tranquil boat ride on Lake Pichola. Retire for the night at the hotel.

DAY 6: UDAIPUR - CHITTORGARH - PUSHKAR
Set out for Pushkar after breakfast to enjoy the Pushkar fair. Visit Chittorgarh on the way.

The hilltop fortress of Chittorgarh symbolizes the romantic ideal of Rajput chivalry. A stronger enemy sacked the fort 3 times from 1303 to 1568 and on each occasion, the women of the fort committed 'Jauhar' or mass self-immolation in a funeral pyre.

Arrive at Pushkar and check in at hotel. Stay overnight.

DAY 7: PUSHKAR
Enjoy the Pushkar fair all day and experience its sights and sounds.

The world's largest camel fair and cattle fair is held in the state of Rajasthan in the holy town of Pushkar. The Pushkar fair is unquestionably the world's biggest camel fair. It is generally held on a full moon night. The fair takes place on the banks of the Pushkar Lake and begins with an exciting camel race.

Stay overnight at the hotel.

DAY 8: PUSHKAR
Take pleasure in the Pushkar fair and explore the local area.

A host of competitions and games in the fair are the main attractions for thousands of tourists every year. One can buy and sell livestock in this fair. The fair is also popular among women for trinkets, knick-knacks and clothes on sale. Other places to see in Pushkar are Pushkar Lake, Jagat Pita Shri Brahma temple, Savitri temple, Man Mahal and Pushkar Palace.

Rest the night at the hotel.

DAY 9: PUSHKAR-JAIPUR
Visit the Pushkar fair in the morning. Embark for Jaipur at afternoon. On arrival, check in to the hotel.

Jaipur is the capital of the state of Rajasthan in India and is also called the 'Pink City' for the vast use of pink stucco in many of the city's structures. Royal and rustic, Jaipur is home to several beautiful forts, palaces and temples.

Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 10: JAIPUR
Tour the Amber Fort in the morning, beginning with an elephant ride from the foothills of the Aravallis to the entrance of the fort. Take a city tour of Jaipur later.

Amber Fort was constructed by Raja Man Singh, the Rajput commander of Akbar's army and is a superb example of Rajput architecture. In the afternoon, visit the City Palace, which has a museum with a wide-ranging collection of art, carpets, enamelware and armaments; Jantar Mantar, an observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh in 1728, and the poetic Hawa Mahal.

Stay at the hotel overnight.

DAY 11: JAIPUR - AGRA
Leave for Agra after breakfast. Visit the Mughal structure Fatehpur Sikri on the way.

Built by Emperor Akbar in 1569, the Fatehpur Sikri was abandoned 15 years later owing to dearth of water. Observe the splendid buildings including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti and Panch Mahal, which are still preserved in their original grandeur.

Arrive at Agra in the evening and check in at a hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 12: AGRA - DELHI
Explore the city of Agra after breakfast. Visit the Agra Fort, Tomb of Itmad-ud-daulah and the Taj Mahal.

The Agra Fort was initiated by Emperor Akbar, and extended by his grandson, Shah Jahan. It contains halls of public and private audiences, among other beautiful structures. The tomb of Itmad-ud-daulah, constructed by Nur Jahan is very similar to the tomb she constructed for her husband, Jehangir, near Lahore in Pakistan. A trip to the beautiful Taj Mahal will have u dazzled. Shah Jahan constructed the mausoleum in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.

Leave for Delhi in the afternoon. Arrive at Delhi and check in at a hotel.

DAY 13: DEPART DELHI
Transfer to the international airport to board a flight back home.
